Artificial Intelligence seems to be growing leaving many worried about whether it will take their jobs. Someone once said to me that AI will not take people's jobs, but those who master it will. So I decided to be one of the people who embrace the tools and see what possibilities come from it. In 2025 I started with a simple experiment, to see if I could create a simple video using only stills and AI. The results were basic but it got me interested...
Below are some of the projects I have created so far...
EuroLeague Final 4 - Opener
As the event was set in Athens, Greece, I came up with the idea of setting some of the key players from each team as statues in the style of Greek Gods, and build the opener for the matches around this, with suitable music and a documentary style voice over.
It took a considerable amount of experimenting with different models to achieve the style of shot and accuracy I wanted.
This is the opener for the first semi-final which I edited.
EuroLeague Final 4 - Closer
This was the closer for the event, and features images from the four teams arriving, plus a montage of the two semi-finals. These were identified using the same AI video components.
At the end of the final, when it was clear who won, I added a statue of the captain lifting the trophy, in front of a temple style building featuring the teams logo. Then we see the actual trophy lift.
Hire Me
I decided to play with the idea of creating cartoon style images, and then started to bring them to life. I decided to turn this into an advert calling people to hire me, with tv and film people from around the world vouching for my skills. This was to test what I could do in a short amount of time.
I posted this on Linkedin... but have no idea if has helped me get any work...
Hire Me - Behind the Scenes
To further explore the idea of the cartoon above, I decided to make a behind the scenes version where we could witness the 'filming' of the original scenes. I wanted to inject some comedy, which I think worked quite well. It was made in a very short time, and I would have liked to work on the audio of my voice more as it is nothing like me.
2026 Winter Sports
As I worked on the 2026 Winter Olympic Games in Milan, Italy, I wanted to see if I could create a fun video, featuring myself participating in a number of the disciplines. Obviously, I had to be part of the Australian team, and added 67 as this is a well known meme from the time.
Some of the shots are quite comical and show up some of the weaknesses of generational AI. The ice skating is particularly bad, where the numbers keep changing, and I become someone else. The way I get into the bobsleigh at the end is a personal highlight.
2025 Steampunk Christmas
While sitting on the sofa at home watching Christmas commercials on tv we stumbled upon a steampunk Christmas video. This inspired me to make my own.
Other than two photos, all elements of this video, including the shots, the dialogue, the music and the sound effects was generated in various AI software.
The creation of the elements took only 4 hours, with the edit taking an hour, and then a further hour to create a 5.1 surround sound mix.
Merry Christmas from Australia
This was another experiment to see what I could get AI to create. The idea was to have recognisable Aussie animals in internationally recognisable scenes.
The text in the New York scene is very disappointing, and some scenes look better than others. The highlight is the Kookaburra in Prague.
Silly Christmas
This was a test to see how silly I could make the shots. It is interesting that the AI models I used would not allow me to create the Santa bursting, or the sleigh crashing, as this was a violation of their terms.
Into the Heart of the Ice Tunnels
This is the video that started it all. Made using 9 still images. AI systems wrote th script, recorded the voice, created the music and sound effects, and created the pictures. I manually edited it all.
While there are many imperfections, I was amazed at what was possible.
